One man buttoned his cappotto, checked his telefono, and smiled at a new messaggio that had just arrived.

MYRA:

Contextual Introduction – English with Italian Vocabulary

You are standing at the edge of a narrow path in the forest, unsure whether to continue. A close friend puts a hand on your shoulder and whispers, fidati.
The trail twists ahead into the trees. The wind begins to soffiare through the branches. The friend points forward and insists, segui the path.
For a moment you freeze, heart racing, and your knees almost give way. The friend shakes you lightly and says, riprenditi.
Then headlights appear through the branches. A car door swings open, and someone waves, shouting sali before the chance to escape is gone.
At last, you realize you have raggiunto the end of your hesitation.

MYRA:
E ora in italiano, lentamente.

 Sei fermo all’inizio di un sentiero stretto nel bosco, incerto se continuare. Un amico ti mette una mano sulla spalla e sussurra: fidati.
Il sentiero si perde tra gli alberi. Il vento comincia a soffiare tra i rami. L’amico indica avanti e insiste: segui il cammino.
Per un attimo ti blocchi, il cuore batte forte e le ginocchia cedono quasi. L’amico ti scuote leggermente e dice: riprenditi.
Poi, tra i rami, compaiono i fari di una macchina. Una portiera si apre e qualcuno ti fa cenno, gridando: sali prima che l’occasione svanisca.
Finalmente ti rendi conto di aver raggiunto la fine della tua esitazione.
